Meet people prepared to show you the best of Brussels!
I live in the Matongé neighboorhood of Brussels. Very lively and colorful. You'll think you're in Africa. I live with 3 other people. Cohousing. There's the possiblity of either sleeping in my room (for women)or in the living room(for men or women). I have a inflatable matrass or a soft camping matrass. The couch in the living room is also quite comfortable but since it's in the living room I cannot assure you that you won't be bothered by my flatmates that are walking about. No pets. No smoking in the house. You are very near to the centre of Brussels. Can go by foot or by metro. Also very close to the european parliament. I can show people around on weekend. During the week working but in the evenings we can go out. Preferably go to bed not too late since working in the morning. I have a sleeping bag and some blankets yes. When you send a request you first word would have to be Cellardoor. This way I know you read my profile completly and didn't skim through. Max 2 days. When we've established that you're coming, I prefer to get a message the day before to know when you'll be arriving and when/where we can meet. If I don't get any sign of life I'll conclude that you have changed plans and are not coming and I might then make other plans. Eating: If you are coming in the evening we can go out and eat. I have this great african restaurant in the neighbourhood where you can have a meal for 5.50 euro. So real cheap and have some fried banana with it and you will be stuffed to the gill. If you are planning on already to have eaten before give me a warning. Breakfast: I know i don't have to feed you but I think the minimum is of providing you breakfast in the morning. I don't want to kick out on the street on a empty stomac. :-) Nothing to fancy though. Some cornflakes and milk and some fruit to put into the cornflakes. If you are lactose intolerant give me a warning and I'll get some get some bread and spread
I live alone in a studio flat (actually a student room) in Ixelles. It's close to the European Parliament and 2 kms away from the city centre. It's very easy to reach with public transportation. There is a bus stop just down my building (also night busses on Friday and Saturday) and Trône metro station is nearby. The flat is at the fourth floor, and there's no elevator. Maximum number of guests is 1. Please don't send any requests for more people. My place is just too small. There is a small supermarket open every day just down my building and basically everything you could need you can find in my street. I have wifi and you can use my computer if you need. I have no pets and don't smoke. I don't mind hosting during the week but I work from Monday to Friday and don't have a spare key. So if you stay at my place during the week, you have to leave at the same time as me (7:30 AM). Keep that in mind as there's not much to do that early in the city.
We have just moved 3 months ago to this lovely appartment in the centre of Brussels. Since we're starters and it's the first time me & my boyfriend(since 5 years) are living together, we are still very improvised on furniture and extra stuff like guest beds but we have everything you need. If you bring a camping matrass or something to lay on, and maybe a sleeping bag,we have an extra room (now diner/lounge)with lots of space which can be used as a guest so room you're fine. We are indeed very close to little shops, bigger ones, the pubs and monuments of the centre and the nearest subway is exactly in front of our door. Nearest railway station 12 minutes by foot. You can use our kitchen if you want, as long as you respect it and don't rob our fridge :) Brussels is a lovely city, as you will experience yourself while sleeping in the middle of it or standing on our tiny cute balcony with a view.
For the purpose of our design research we would like to spend time in Finland. I will travel with my girlfriend and her mature and well behaved labrador dog. We would like to swap all or part of a townhouse in brussels for all or part of a house or flat in Finland, preferably not too far from Helsinki. It is our expectation to have easy access to sauna. Our townhouse located close to metro Simonis and off Park Elizabeth in Brussels. Complete house with more details upon request. car swap possible. paris 1.20minute trainride. london 3.20 trainride Ideally this swap would occur over 29 February 2008 and be for one month. Shorter swap possible and this offer would be open for a number of months, years. If a spare room is open to us without a swap, we are very open to paying a weekly fee for heat and use of spare room. We can travel with all bedding/linens by car.
Our house is in the Ixelles area ("commune"), it's basically in the center of Brussels. We have a small room with two beds, a bit cold in the winter and a bit hot in the summer, but decent all together. You also have a small adjacent room with a sink. The bathroom is shared. The entire house is meant to be remodelled during 2008-2009, but we haven't started yet. We can accomodate 2 people, with an implicit contract to keep the place clean and tidy. No "party animals" and the like. My wife Simonetta and I both work, we naturally like multi-cultural environnements, like to discuss about everything but money, religion and politics. We would describe ourselves as "liberal", meaning open-minded and curious.
NB From July I'll be in the UK and then travelling so this will no longer be available... We have a mezzanine with comfy sofa bed (double) for guests. The only drawback is that the apartment is very light and airy so you may be woken up by the sun. Luckily it's not very sunny in Belgium. We live in a lively neighbourhood with all amenities. The town centre is only a 20 minute walk away, or you can take the bus or metro. We often cook and eat together so the ideal arrangement would be for our guest to eat with us and to cook a dinner or two in return. If our guest did not want to eat with us then they would be welcome to use the kitchen facilities.
I live in a one room appartment in Brussels near Place Dailly. An inflatable matress/couch will be waiting for you! better if you bring your own sleeping bag ;-) no pets, no smoking, public transportation nearby. i could show around in the evenings or during weekends. just contact me with your plans and/or questions and i´ll get back to you asap. however, i will tend to give preference to people who write me nice and personal messages! I can offer you: - blankets, pillows and towels, - entertaining chats about no matter what, - drinks and perhaps also some food if you are hungry :) I only ask you to bring lots of enthusiasm and good vibes!!
I have a lot of space in my studio, but only one mattress so i would recommend bringing your own, or a sleeping bag. I can provide one blanket.. Sorry for the lack of resources, i am renting this space for only 2 months and then i`m back to the U.S. ***Contact me about availabilty as I am traveling a lot these days, but if I am home I would be happy to have you. Also, if our dates coincide I can give more information :)*** I live in Molenbeek currently (close to the center of Brussels), 5 min walk to the tram/metro, 15 min walk to grand place I live alone I have one bed, and a tile floor so you probably should bring a sleeping bag :)
Hello, I have one big couch, one inflatable mattress and if necessary a bit more space on the floor for one more mattress. My sleeping room is separated but I need to go through the living room to reach the toilet and the bathroom so basically, when I wake up, everybody wakes up as well . The apartment is on the 3rd floor (no lift) of an old typical Brussels house. It is located near the metro station “Porte de Namur”, in the colourful “Matongé” neighbourhood. This is only 15 minutes walking to the Grand Place and all the touristy areas of Brussels. There are lots of restaurants, movie theatres and shops really close by.
I live in a supersmall student studio near the Botanic Garden, 5 minute walk from the North Station. I live on my own and can offer you half a bed, full bed or a mattress on the floor or if you really want we can always make some place for a tent on the roof. Everything you might need is just round the corner - shopping street, some dodgy people, parks, high-scrapers for a big-city-feeling, concert-halls, small pizzerias and big kebab places, Bulgarian supermarkets, fancy hotels and student bars. You can arrive any time of day or night, pets are welcome, not too keen on snails though, but I am sure we would find a way.
