Meet people prepared to show you the best of Dunedin!
We have to offer a separate warm sleepout with a comfortable queen sized bed. No bathroom facilities in the sleepout, but house is just a few steps away with bath, shower and toilet facilities. Our sleepout has double ranch sliding doors providing our guests with an amazing view of South Island New Zealand sheep farming country. We are situated just one hour from Dunedin city and ten minutes from New Zealands historical town of Lawrence where gold was first discovered. Our Closest small towns are Lawrence, Milton and Balclutha, 10, 15, and 30 minutes away, all are serviced by rail and road public transport. Our farm is situated 5 muinutes off the main highway to Queenstown which is just 2 and a half hours away. Guests are very welcome to use our kitchen while here, obviously you will need to provide your own food. I would be interested and happy to share the expenses of evening "get to know you, your country, and culture" dinners. Our special part of South Island New Zealand is uniquely situated to so many tourist destinations but also offers peace and quiet for those who need a little relaxation.
My parents house where I live usually is a good sized 3-4 bedroom house out by the beach on Brighton/Ocean View just south of Dunedin- about 20 mins away from centre of dunedin. There will always be at least a spare matress (in our spare lounge) if I'm at home, if i'm not at home then there will be a spare double bed in your own room. Bus stop right outside our house which goes into town about 4 times per day and returns about 4 times a day as well. My parents are signed up as well and here is what they say about out home-Beautiful views over coastline. Beach walking, surfing, meditation and relaxation a must here in Brighton, 15 minutes south of Dunedin by car. Accommodation availability varies according to our 3 teenagers' movements. At least room for 2 people normally, possibly more. There are usually beds available, definitely mattresses. Great surfing, often 30 seconds from house! We're english speaking but don't mind using sign language.
We have a student flat with some lovely couch and floor space, ideal for the more rustic type who isnt afraid of the cold. We are are a pretty relaxed crew, with two NZ audio-visual psytrance producers/animators a Latvian ice hockey player and a surly South African. Dunedin is pretty easy to get around, people are pretty low-key (what do you expect from a bunch of Scot colonizers). Food is cheap if you know where to go, it is cold (no joke) so dress up warm in winter. We really do have some cool scenery around the place within an hours drive. Have a wee peak on some tourist website. More info? You are gonna have to touch base with us first!
We have a large spare room which has a double bed in it. Dunedin is a small city of 100,000 people, surrounded by the sea in the harbour and also the pacific ocean along the coast. We have a lot of wildlife, penguins, seals and the occasional visit from dolphins. We live 5 mins away from a bus stop that will take you directly into town. You could walk to town and this would take approximately 50 mins. Feel free to use the kitchen while you are here, but you will have to buy your own food. Our place would be a great base to explore the South Island of New Zealand, maybe have a weekend in Queenstown.
One room available. Double bed in large room, adjacent bathroom with shower, bath, and toilet. Parking space. 10 minutes to bus stop and 40 minutes walk to town. The house is on the edge of town in 8 acres of garden. The property used to be a fruit and berry farm. We have many native birds and a small stream. Five minutes drive to supermarket. Dunedin is a good place to visit penguins, seals and Southern Royal albatrosses. Non-smokers only. No animals are allowed, to protect the wildlife on the property.
I live in a scenic forest reserve just over an hour outside Dunedin, closer to the airport than Dunedin city. I have a spare room with a comfortable single bed in a medium sized house. There are no shops out here, so do come prepared. All food has to be brought in from outside so involves a little bit of planning in advance. Please bring some food supplies and we can cook nice meals together. There are many beautiful walks all around and a nearby waterfall. Nature lovers will be in heaven.
Student flat, in the heart of Otago's studentville (commonly known and infamous for 'Scarfie' antics). We are close to everything - Literally! Supermarkets (approx. 10min walk), well-known local spots, city centre, pubs, the Botanical Gardens. Feel free to use the kitchen, bathroom etc, but will have to buy own food, and find your own means of transport (We all walk everywhere, but if you'd like to explore further places such as the beaches, there are buses, or car-hire).
I live in a central part of town by myself in a small, self-contained flat (5 minutes walk to the centre of town). You will sleep in a couch/bed in a separate room. I do not have any pets and I do not smoke. All the best attractions of the city are within walking distance. I am generally a night person and go to bed after 12am. I work during the week but can show people around in the evenings or during the weekend. I have some blankets. 3 days+ is too many in most cases...
1.Large bedroom with queen size bed and ensuite. Away from main rooms. 2.Bedroom with queen bed, shared bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet. 3. Double bed. Shared facilities as above. Farmlet with superb views and spacious living areas. Close to Dunedin city (approx 8 minutes drive to centre of city). All facilities available in house. Happy to have visitors dine with family (husband & wife - children all grown up and left home).
one single bed mattress which we can lend. i live with 1 other student flat mate and a small friendly dog. we are based in north dunedin 5 min walk from uni and 8min walk to the mall. you are welcome to use the kitchen (please top up when you leave) and shared bathroom. would be willing to accomodate up to 2 guests for night or two. we have a fouton couch in the lounge which can squeeze two people. we are happy to show you around in our free time.
