Meet people prepared to show you the best of Edinburgh!
I have a sofa-bed available in my living room in a two-bedroom flat in Edinburgh. The living room has a door and can therefore be turned into a separate room for privacy. I share the house with one other person. We are a very tidy bunch and would appreciate people cleaning after themselves. It would be difficult to host people who may want to have late nights out as we both work. I am quite centrally placed with bus stops and shops nearby. I work for a pharmaceutical company and hence do the normal office hours but am happy to show people around the city on the weekends. I love hillwalking and playing all sorts of sports especially squash. I also enjoy reading in my spare time and enjoy intelligent discussions. I especially enjoy meeting people of different backgrounds and professions. I speak English, Malay, French (basic level, Hindi and Urdu (basic level).
I have a double bed and a sofa in my room but I don't mind taking the sofa. I live a 10 minute bus ride from the town centre and the heart of Edinburgh. You can see Arthur's Seat from my window!! I'm close to a large shopping centre which is a 3 minute walk from my house. I run a bed and breakfast and I live in 1 room so you will have to share with me. You would have to share a bathroom with the guests but I clean it every day so it's always spick and span and I have my own private toilet which you can share with me. The guests don't have access to the kitchen so that is private and, although you would be expected to provide your own food, items such as milk, bread, eggs, sugar, tea, coffee and other basics will be free for you to use. I have a small back garden where you can bbq and soak up the summer sun with a few beers!!
We (myself and two other flatmates) have a pull out futon thingie in our living room, which is fairly spacious by European standards. It's, er, 'firm', to say the least, but a good size and there's loads of clean, spare bedding and so on. Flat itself is a ground floor, main door flat in a really posh and beautiful area, with a private garden and resident cat. There's cute local shops and the city centre is about a 20 minute walk, but there's also good bus services close by. You're free to use the kitchen, bathroom, etc, etc, but you will need to provide your own food and drink and toiletries. We'd be happy to provide advice on Edinburgh stuff, we love the city, and take you along to various things if we're not working, and are pretty social people.
Update-things a bit hectic at the moment as we are looking for a new flat to move into-there will probably be room for someone in the new place but not taking any requests until September-sorry! --------------------------------------- We have a spare bedroom -with a double bed in our two bedroom flat which is north of the city centre-15 minutes by bus to Princess Street. Would be willing to host quiet travellers-no party animals for up to a few days. We would be out during normal working hours and would prefer if guests also left the flat during this time-we wouldn't hand out keys. You are free to use kitchen (but must buy your own food)-we are vegetarian so would prefer if you didn't cook meat. No smoking please!
we've recently moved house to a lovely village around half an hour from Edinburgh. We have a small (single) spare bedroom available, plus a roll out mattress for kids (or couples who dont mind one person sleeping on the floor) We are on a direct bus route to Edinburgh, Peebles, and also to Bigggar where you can get a bus to Lanark which has rail links to Glasgow. We make a great base for touring this beautiful area of Scotland. You would be welcome to share our fridge and cooking facilities, but must leave things clean and tidy! We supply accomodation but you need to entertain yourself (not so very hard to do around here) though you're welcome to spend time with us, maybe watch a movie or something...
tent in back garden or couch or even do house swaps. its a lovely small one bedroom terraced bungalow with brilliant outlook i can see Rosslyn chapel and Edinburgh castle fay my place. centre of town is 30mins on the bus (public transport)which is mega cheap...too you would have agreat time exploring or as i call it when i travel "Adventure" scotlands a wonderfull country and made to fell reay welcome :) its lovely & peacefull and a pretty spiritual place too "thats the feeling from inside my home" many freinds and familay have quoted me on that...
I have a 2 bedroom flat in a small apartment building. One of the bedrooms is my study and I have a single mattress that can go on the floor - it's comfy -I use it when I rent out my bedroom during our big international arts festival. I DO need access to the room as it's where I keep things and also my wardrobes are there. Alternatively my couch is very comfy too. I have a cat - who will play with you. The flat is quite central to town on foot. Lots of places to eat, see and buy food. It's a STRICTLY non-smoking house. Sunny, warm, bright, laid-back
Our guests generally sleep on beds in rooms of their own, which we can offer whenever they are unoccupied. (Aware this sounds like workers' bed sharing, but I promise it isn't. We are fortunate not to work enough for that, and yet more fortunate to have s p a c e !) Here in Marchmont, south of the Meadows and in an apartment of 4 which we call the Nunnery. From sleeping in a spare room whenever we have one, you see beautiful cornicing and big windows. Of course you can cook your own food in our kitchen. We've sadly no pets, and happily no one smokes inside.
I live in central Edinburgh. I have a medium sized 2 bedroom flat with a medium sized kitchen, bathroom and large living room. I live in with my sister who is 22. I have a large living room with a 2 seater and a 3 seater sofa. I also have a fold out futon mattress type bed. You can either walk to the main shopping street 'princes street' in 20 minutes or get one of many busses which get you there in 5-10. Kitchen use is welcome although you would nee to buy own food unless i make inner for us all some nights.
Spare bedroom with trussle (pull out 2nd bed) single bed within two bedroom basement floor apartment, has own cupboard space. As close to city as you can get, located in West End at end of Queen St- 2 min walk to George/Princess Streets etc..(and public transport hubs) 1 min walk to West End activities. Very close to loads of pubs, restaurants, clubs, cafes etc.. Feel free to use kitchen and other amenities, but buy your own food etc.. Ideal for short stay to explore Edinburgh or to have a big weekend!
