NOT GANGNEUNG We are actually located in SAMCHEOK in Gangwon province. It's an hour south of Gangneung by bus. Small town and very nice. Everyone that comes here loves it! Nice sized flat. "extra room" - small room with twin/single sized bed. We (my partner and I) have plenty of extra pillows and blankets. We also have a couch and reclining chair in the lounge that are quite comfortable. Aside from all of that, there is plenty of floor space. But, we don't have air matresses or anything - only thin pads and blankets. We are close to everything. You can walk or cycle (we have 2 bikes you may use.) 5-10 minutes to beach, beautiful coastline; also close to the mountains. Great place. It is the main (and only) city in the larger district of the same name. It is a good place to catch a bus to some of the other smaller places with great mountain views and fabulous coastline. In the winter, the whole of this province is accessible to ski resorts. 4 hours from both Seoul and Busan (by bus). You may help yourself to the basics we have, like milk, water, beer, etc. but please mind the "western specialties"!! Good cheese and proper spices and things are hard to come by here in our small town, so please do just ask and we'll probably be happy to share! If you stay for several days, we'd surely appreciate replacing or chipping in. Otherwise, our house is your house. Please make yourself at home. Feel free to use the washing machine, shower, internet, TV, etc. We have tons of books.
a small room with a basic futon that could sleep one or two. i live in a small town called sokcho (it says gangneung in my profile, which is the closest town i could find in my province... about 45 mins away) which is nestled between the beautiful mountains of seoraksan national park and some expansive sandy beaches. there are local buses that can be caught not far from where i live that take you up to the entrance of the park, or intercity buses if you're into exploring more of korea. the town is small enough to walk around but taxis are cheap and i'm fairly certain bikes can be rented for day use. my kitchen is free to use and groceries can be picked up at the local mart for relatively cheap. that said, there is some great food to be found at cheap restaurants in korea.
We have a spare room with a mat and blankets. Our apartment is 2 bedrooms, modest but comfortable. We're near shops, restaurants, etc and a very easy taxi/bus ride away from the city center/beach/etc.
I have a couch in my living room or there's also the floor which is "korean style." My apartment is about 15 minutes from the beach and about a 20 minute walk downtown.
I will be living in a small flat with basic furnishings - the only thing I can offer is an airbed. Its pretty comfy though!
