Meet people prepared to show you the best of Hackensack, Bergen!
My husband and I offer a spare room in the finished basement of our quaint home equipped with a comfortable sofa bed (full size). Our home is located in a suburban residential neighborhood of Bergen county (right outside New York). Little Ferry was not on the list. It's a tiny town bordering Hackensack. You can literally walk to Hackensack, which is why I used it. Shared bathroom (if the half bath downstairs isn't finished by the time you visit) and kitchen upstairs. Feel free to use our kitchen but you will have to buy your own food. For three bucks and change you will be a 20-25 minute hour bus ride from midtown Manhattan. The 161 drops you off at the Port Authority. We both take the bus so if you are an early riser, you can even leave with us. You can't get better than that! And the bustop is around the corner from our home. ALSO--if your travel will be after April 1st, we can accomodate you with the separate apartment upstairs, private bedroom, bathroom and kitchen for up to 5 days max. This offer is only good for a month so take advantage of it if you are looking for a little more privacy. Our tenant is vacating the apartment at the end of March. As it won't have furniture, we can provide you with plates, utensils and cooking pots, bu you must bring a sleeping bag and buy your own food. Also there is a store/deli at the corner for food purchases, so it's pretty convenient if you are not renting a car. We are a fun couple and would be happy to provide directions as we are both born and raised in Brooklyn, New York!
Right now I don't have a place in the USA. But most likely it will be a share room. Possible bunk bed situation with myself in one of the beds. There will also be a shared bathroom. I have no problem sharing towels or other common items. From Hackensack it is very easy to take a bus to NYC. Some bus numbers are 163, 164, 165; there are also some express buses and you can also take the train. It should cost about 4 dollars one way; and take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the day of the week and time of day. There are not so much things to do in Hackensack, but it is near a popular mall and there are some nice little parks and shops. There is no problem to use the kitchen and eat some stuff, without over doing it so much. I live with a small dog who loves people attention.
I have no permanent address as of yet, which is why I am here...to seek it out for myself. Where I am currently, though, has room in a yard for a tent...possibly the ability for me to sneak one individual into the room I rent. This would be floor space.
Couch in small basement apartment in nice neighborhood in NY metro area.
Two small rooms with comfortable single beds in lovely 4 bedroom house in a New Jersey suburb close to NYC. Non-smokers, no drugs, no pets. Lovely garden in the summer months. Walking distance to some restaurants, stores, NYC bus. Short taxi ride to train or mall shopping.
