Meet people prepared to show you the best of Halifax!
Small one-room bachelor apartment with little space to spare, but I've got a couch which is relatively comfortable. I'm in the West End of Halifax, close to a major transit terminal, grocery stores and other shopping. It's about a 15 minute bus-ride downtown from here. You would have to buy your own food, but I'd be open to doing some shared meals too, especially if you're a good cook! Independent, considerate, mature guests preferred. No homophobia, racism or other nastiness. Only open-minded, laid-back, adventurous spirits need apply :) No heavy smokers or drug-users, though there is a balcony for cigarettes and if the weather were horrible I might be apt to consider just opening a window. I like my share of partying, but just not in the apartment. I'm up for getting together for nights at the pub or afternoons on a waterfront patio. Always up for arts and cultural events of all kinds. I'm not working right now, so I have a lot of time on my hands. I'm an experienced traveller, having done the working holiday thing in the UK and backpacked solo around Western Europe. I do fairly well in French and have a very basic knowledge (and love for!) German. I'd be happy to consider hosting a single person on the couch for a few nights, I do have an air mattress for a second person, but it can make for crowded conditions. I'd do longer if I had more space, but for now, this is home. I'd love to show you around Halifax and other areas of Nova Scotia. I'm originally from a rural part of NS, and so would be happy to play tour-guide if you're interested in seeing that part of the province as well.
We are a three person family, Mom, Dad (44+ years old) and 11 year old son. We speak mostly just English, but my wife can stumble around in French and a tiny bit of Italian. We like music, especially music from around the world. We are not party animals, although we do partake in a nice drink of fine red wine now and again. We like Italian, Austrailian, South African mostly. Our spare room has a queen-sized bed. Our place can be cluttered now and again, but clean. No smokers for sure. No drugs either. Our son goes to school, and one of us works outside the home during the day. We are into sharing cultures, so a family of three with a boy or girl the age of our son could be nice. Our house is in the suburbs, about a 20 minute drive from the capital city of Halifax. We are vegetarian, so you wouldn't be able to prepare meat or fish food in our house, but you would be welcome to prepare vegetarian cuisine, and would be expected to clean up after yourselves.
1 BDRM, ~ 4DAY STAY. NICE HOUSE, IN THE COUNTRY. ITS JUST 2 OF US AND THE DOG. THERE IS A SPARE BDRM. ALSO A SECOND BATHROOM ACROSS FROM THE BDRM AND ON THE SAME FL AS THE LOUNGE, SO THERE'S SOME PRIVACY. THESE AREAS ARE IN THE BASEMENT, WHILE THE MAIN PART OF THE HOUSE IS A FLOOR ABOVE. WE DON'T COOK ALOT, BUT YOU'RE WELCOME TO BRING YOUR OWN FOOD TO COOK. AND IF WE'RE COOKING, OF COURSE WE CAN SHARE. THE HOUSE IS ABOUT 20 MINS OUTSIDE OF THE CITY, BUT THERE IS A BUS STOP CLOSE BY THAT CAN BRING YOU TO THE CITY. AND THERE IS A PLAZA WITH A BIG SUPERMARKET AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU MIGHT NEED ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS, WITHIN A 5 MIN WALK. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT SPOT FOR ONE OR TWO PEOPLE TO HANG OUT, AND WE'D BE HAPPY TO PLAY TOUR GUIDE, AND HEAD OUT FOR A NIGHT. HOPE YOU'LL STOP BY! :-)
I live with my parents in their house, but depending on the time of your stay, I'm sure they wouldn't mind me hosting you in one of our families guest rooms! All of our guest rooms have double beds with a bathroom you can use, one has its own private bathroom, the other is shared with me! But enough room for everyone. We live about a 15 min drive from Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford, so getting to the city might be an issue. The closest bus station is in Lower Sackville, NS and if I am around I wouldn't have an issue dropping you there in the morning and picking you up at night, however don't expect to hang around Fall River or our house all day everyday, make sure your days are filled with activities as the drive, unless you have a rental or your own car, might be difficult.
We have one spare bedroom, two if you don't mind being in a basement on a pullout coach. The bedroom is upstairs and is right next to the family bathroom, there is a second bathroom on the next floor with a bath and shower that will be only yours. There's a comfortable double bed in the room along with everything else you will need. We're just 15minutes from downtown Halifax, and very close to the ferry terminal. You can help yourself to our kitchen appliances and we have home cooked meals every night so feel free to join!
I have one (double)Couch-Bed. Only avail. August 26 - September 2. I live right in downtown Halifax, close to EVERYTHING. I do work full time so only stipulation is that when I am out of the house, everyone is out of the house...Sorry but I am just a subletter and just better safe then sorry. :) No smoking, or pets please in the building. I am traveling to Australia October 1-??? I will be looking for any help at all. feel free to add me to msn or email me: firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks again, Tyler Leslie
You are very welcome to sleep on my coach. I live alone and do not have a spare bed, but, the coach will give a degree of privacy. You are welcome to use the fridge and help yourself to its contents, but, I would appreciate if you would re-stock whatever you use. I am on the public transportation route and am in close proximity to the downtown area. I would be happy to give a tour of the city--hopefully a good one--while you visit if that's something that would interest you.
My wife and I have a 0ne bedroom apt.allthe kids have finally left and now it is time for us to travel and we thought this would be the ideal way. We hope to host as much as we can in 2009.I am sure we have the basics.Double bed, share a full bath, transportation just outside the door, use of kitchen, just replace basic foods. As of now we have part time jobs, but with scheduling I am sure we can be there for pick ups and sight seeing. Eager to get started so give us a call.
I have a small spare room in the downstairs level of a 4 bedroom home in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are literally minutes from down town Halifax and linked by public transportation. You are more then welcome to use our washer/dryer and our kitchen as long as you are tidy and buy your own food. This is a nice spot just outside the core of town where you can have peace and quiet but also be a 10 minute drive to all the hot spots.
Very large and comfy couch in decent-sized apartment just outside downtown Halifax. Downtown core is easily accessible by bus or bike, and there is a large shopping mall (Halifax Shopping Centre) just down the street. Groceries are easily available, as well as a superb pizza joint and bulk food store. I like to cook, so I might cook for you, but I also like being lazy, so don't count on it :P
