UPDATE: AS OF 8/03/13, I DO NOT have a permanent residence in NJ. I'll be traveling for an extended period of time and now it's my turn to navigate couches as a surfer. :) PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SENDING REQUESTS FOR A COUCH UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!! The couch is a very comfortable futon that opens into a queen bed in the living room, where you would be sleeping by yourself. The living room is connected to the kitchen and the bathroom, on one side, and to my bedroom and office on the other. The Couch/Futon It's often cleaned and sanitized and it is very important you keep it that way during your stay. I have plenty of blankets and sheets and pillows. I may be able to receive ONE couch surfer for one or two days starting on Thursday evening, Fridays or Saturdays and departing on Monday before 8:00 AM. I CANNOT accommodate people from Monday morning through Thursday morning.People have to come in and out of the house with me in principle. I am very busy with work and other stuff and I will take people in just when I know I can spend some time with them. On the same token, I expect my guests to want to spend some time with me. I live 10 minutes off NY by train (path to the WTC and Path to 33rd street) The train station is a 12' walk from my apartment in a very safe area in Downtown Jersey City, near the historic part and near Liberty State Park, across from where the Statue of Liberty seats. (The Statue of Liberty is in NJ, no in NY). From Liberty State Park, you can take a Ferry to Ellis Island and Statue of liberty and ferries to different points in NYC. f I can take you around the city, the best coffee shops, art galleries, and museums, I can help you save big bucks in the main typical touristic attractions and take you down the less beaten path. I can guide you in the best hikes one hour from the city (and you can see the Big Apple from the forest!) and show you the most exciting ethnic restaurants in the area. From hidden book-store-coffees shops, to the most exotic performances... I am member of the AMNH, the MET, the MOMA, the Botanical Gardens and more and I can treat my guest to interesting special exhibits in either of them. I can be your guide around the city on a Saturday or Sunday, though I have limited time to spend with C. Surfers on Thursdays and Fridays. If you are planning a visit, please send your request with a minimum advance notice of 7 days. I may not be able to reply to requests sent on shorter notice but you can try writing just in case. There are a few rules regarding my place. I AM QUITE OC WHEN IT COMES TO CLEANLINESS AND KEEPING EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE and I expect my guests to tidy up and clean after themselves. I work long hours and I get very little free time so I need to maximize it. Cleaning a mess is not my idea of a fun weekend.:-0 and please, don't ransack my refrigerator! I do sometimes go to bed late, but I am on the quiet side, so no loud noises are aloud in the building. BRINGING UNANNOUNCED FRIENDS OVER IS NOT ALLOWED. If you want to surf my couch, you have to take into account I like waking up relatively early, even on the weekends (definitely before 9:00 am) and if you go out alone, I can open the door for you up till 1 AM but not later than that.
I have a 1BR loft and I live alone. I keep a clean apartment which is well-decorated in a comfortable, modern style. You would have your choice of a comfortable full-length sectional couch or a full-size air mattress downstairs in the living room/dining room area. The apartment is a 5-minute walk to the PATH trains, which offer transportation to either the World Trade Center or 33rd Street (via Christopher Street in the West Village and 9th, 14th, and 23rd Streets at their intersection with 6th Avenue) into the City. There is a small grocery store on the way to the PATH train where you can buy your own food, and you may use my kitchen for meals--if you just want breakfast, you can scrounge around (like I usually do!). I have a Golden Retriever that is extremely friendly. He sleeps upstairs with me, but you must like dogs and not be allergic to stay with me. He goes to daycare during the day, so if you want to relax or come back during the day, the house would be yours. I have cable, wifi (bring your own laptop/wifi-capable device), and unlimited phone calls in the US via a landline. I will provide linens for your use. This is a great place to stay and tour New York City. I am an attorney in Midtown and the commute, door to door, including walking time, is about 35 minutes.
I live in a basement of a house. It has a seperate entrance with a seperate bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom(shower). Feel free to use kitchen. Since there is a respectable family that lives above I request mature people and small families. Early morning usage of hot water is prohibited since the whole house uses the water in the morning sparingly since everyone goes to work...prefer if people could shower in the evenings or in the latter part of the morning (or both). Only $1.50 to get to Manhattan at the Path Train station in which is within 5 minutes walking distance. There is also a bus stop in front of the house and there is also a train to Newark, NJ.
Living room couch or floor space in our cozy, sunny and clean apartment. We'll do our best to make you comfortable and share with you as much as we can. There's a blow up mattress with all the linens you'll need. We're two professional adults so it's not a party environment. We can offer great home cooked meals and some wine but no loud music or partying. We prefer mature, considerate and appreciative travelers who aren't just looking for a handout or crash pad.
I live with my brother and mother in the basement apartment of the house we own. We rent out the top 2 floors but are the only ones with access to the backyard. You would be sharing the room with me on a couch or spare mattress. Smoking is allowed on the backyard or front porch but not in doors. You can use the kitchen and eat with us. There is a bus right around the corner and the PATH train which takes you around the city and to NYC is a 10 minute walk away.
I stay in a 1 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend. The apartment is right on the Hudson river and has a view of Manhattan. It is about 10 mins from Manhattan. I have a couch that is a pull out bed that I can offer. I can accommodate 2 ppl at most. Unfortunately we travel a lot (either on business or leisure) and are not always available. But if we are around I would be glad to share my house with you.
Studio apartment in Downtown Jersey City, New Jersey just a few minutes from Manhattan, New York via PATH train. Would love to host you. We have loads of books for you to peruse and would love to show you New York City (on the weekends) and can help you navigate the city. Also we could rent a car very inexpensively or take a train up to the mountains close by if you would like.
You can crash on my couch located In a small living room. Located near path train to NYC (approx 5 minutes away). Public transportation close by, shops, and restaurants close by. Urban area with a lot of night life and The city Is % minutes away as stated before. I live In a 1 bedroom, full bathroom, and kitchen open for your use.
We have a nice sized living room with a very comfy air mattress for a max of 2 people. Our apartment is a 7 minute walk to the path, which costs $1.75 and gets you into NYC in about 20 minutes. You are welcome to use the kitchen, but please purchase your own food. Obviously condiments and such are fair game.
Small Bed with blow up mattress in a two bedroom apartment. We are located about 10 miles outside of New York City and transportation into New York is just a three minute walk down the hill. Total transit time into New York is 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
