Important: I can't host on weekends because I go to my parents' house... so only weekdays. I live by myself in a one-bedroom attic apartment right in the middle of downtown New Brunswick (2-minute walk from the train station). I don't have beds, just a double mattress I sleep on, and an extra small one in the living room, but I have plenty of floor space so if you have sleeping bags, you can squeeze as many people as you want in. I don't smoke. You can have pets, but my house isn't well ventilated so I would prefer no smoking so as not to set off the alarms. New Brunswick is nice, I just moved here, lots of fun restaurants and cute ice-cream places, it's pretty much a huge college town because of huge Rutgers. I'm sure once the Rutgers school year starts there'll be plenty of stuff going on there. Public transportation is good, there are NJ Transit buses which I don't really know about and Rutgers buses which are awesome for going around the different campuses. I'm in medical school, and am pretty busy, so you would pretty much be on your own. I have tons of blankets, no amount of days is too many. If you show up and are not so fun to live with, then there might be a limit :)
Personally I do not have a couch as of this moment, however, having the fortune of very open-minded and outgoing friends, I can always help host a few people. I should have a couch myself rather soon, but just send me an email and I am sure we will be able to work something out. As in what is there to do in New Brunswick - well, it's a college town with about 30 000 students divided between several campuses. This all is conveniently located 50 minutes away from NYC (with the train) and 30 minutes away from Princeton (with a car). The nightlife is fun whether you enjoy going out to the bars or just sitting back and having some philosophical conversations about random stuff.
Futon in living room of 2 bedroom apartment in town of New Brunswick, NJ. We are a 10 minute walk to the train station / bus pickup for easy transportation to the northeast corridor train line (NYC to Philly). New Brunswick itself is home to Rutgers University, Johnson&Johnson HQs, and has many attractions of its own, including museums, bars, restaurants, parks, etc. We are about a 45 minute trip to NYC, a 1-1/2 hour trip to Philadelphia.
I live in New Brunswick with 2 other appartmentmates, near Rutgers campus. The train to New York is about 8 blocks away, and a 1 hour ride. The couch is huge and very very comfortable. there are theaters, coffee shops, bar, comedy clubs, and restaurants all over New Brunswick. I would be happy to show people around when they visit! Feel free to use the kitchen, but I do ask that you provide your own food.
I live in a 2 bedroom apt, we have couch and floor space for a few people for a few days- but its depending on what we are doing at the time. We are a ten minute walk from the train station- and an hour train ride from New York City. We are close to some local food places and on a college campus (plenty of bars, etc). Social drinkers, social smokers, not too much else. I guess thats it,
small private room in large four bedroom home in Central NJ area... the other rooms are occupied at the moment, but one room avail. (Roomer has free access to kitchen and huge bathroom ) NBrunswick is fairly small city, but has good restaurants, bars, clubs, shops and is the home of Rutgers Univ. (many shops, businesses have Rutgers theme ).
So i have a little mattress deal, or you could stay on our comfy couch? I've got a smallish mediumish 2 bedroom apartment in New Brunswick, NJ, 5 minute walk to Rutgers or any of New Brunswick's bajillion pizza places. Home of the fat sandwich and a bustling hardcore scene, or you can take the train to NY (not quite an hour).
I have a very smal studio. The city of New Brunswick is 40 minute train ride from MAnhattan and 1 hour from Philadelphia. New Brunswick itself is pretty nice, fun city. I have futon that yo would be able to crash in!!! (definetely not the most private accomodations)
I can provide a spare bed in a New Brunswick apartment. Just a single camper bed .. not ideal for a long term stay but since its about a mile walk to the train station into New York City, might be worth the sacrifice.
I am preparing to move at the moment and go on a two month backpacking trip through Europe. Therefore, there is no accommodation. When I return in September I will be living in New York City and can host at that time.
