Have a small house that is a renovated cottage on Rice Lake. This is a rural area about 30 minutes from Peterborough the nearest big "city". It is on route to Toronto or Ottawa. In the summer there are concerts, beaches, hiking, a Zoo and a University in town. In winter skiing, a resort nearby offers a pub, flying, rental ski dos etc but prices are "resort sized". There is a horse riding stable near by also, and a Pioneer Village. Have a very small guest room (also the sewing room)or can put matress on the floor or the couch which might have to be shared with my old cat.. Not suitable for kids but one or two adults of pretty much any age. You will likely need to cook for youself and are welcome to share the kitchen. No smoking inside. Moderate use of alcohol please. I am interested in travelling and possibly teaching English as a second language. I am trying to learn French to a more fluent level and in travelling to French speaking areas of the world also.
Hi there, Well I am planning on bicycling across Canada and I am intending on using Global Freeloaders to help me find a couple of places to stay along my trip. In return I am offering my place near Peterborough Ontario to any travelers or bicyclists for that matter to stay. I live out in the country just outside of Peterborough. Its about a 25 minute drive to the city and some transportation may be available. There is a spare bed and tent space. Meals can not be guaranteed but you are welcome to have a hot shower and perhaps wash a few clothes if need be. All I ask is that you are courtious and friendly and respect the property. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from those that are interested. Ciao -Dave.
Basically itís a couch in my living room. I have a 2 bedroom flat that I share with a house mate. Iím a 10 min walk from the Greyhound Bus terminal and down town. I am close to laundry and shops and on a city bus line. Peterborough is a university and collage town so there are lots of bars and a few clubs for dancing. Your more them welcome to the kitchen while youíre staying but you will have to pay for your own food and please do your own dishes. Itís nothing fancy but itís clean and quiet. Itís a great way to experience a small Ontario city with a small town feel but big town cultural hub and under current.
We live just north of Peterborough,Ontario about 25 minutes drive and are close to Buckhorn Lake. The accomendation provided is a medium sized bedroom with a moderate sized bed. You will have to provide your own meals but you are more than welcome to share the kitchen. The house is in a quiet part of the country and is a bit of a drive into town so transportation will have to be provided by those who wish to stay here. The place is suitable for those who want to see not only peterborough but the surrounding area as well.
I have a small three bed-room house that can accomodate guests in a variety of ways, including a bedroom, couch bed, matresses on floor, or tents in my backyard. I live here with my three children but sometimes we are away during the months of July and August. You can use the kitchen, fridge and laundry facilities. There are bike trails, a park, free tennis courts and a skate board park all within a one-minute walk. I can lend bikes. There are restaurants and shopping a five-minute bike ride away. You can park here.
medium sized room with double bed in a large Victorian family home in the north end of Peterborough. You may use the kitchen to cook your food and enjoy lunch on our lovely verandah. We are walking distance to shopping, downtown, art galleries, parks and walking trails. Peterborough is a wonderful summer place with free outdoor concerts twice weekly and abundant lakes and beaches close by. We are 1.5 hours from Toronto and surrouded by pretty towns and amazing outdoor and traditional theatre.
A futon in the living room (with it's own door for privacy) of a 2nd floor apartment in the middle of downtown Peterborough. Kitchen available for use, but you must buy your own food, which is easy with grocery store 2 blocks away. Same block as 6 restaurants (Cajun, Brewery, Belgian, Pub, and Italian), the sixth being an indepedent movie/restaurant. Three coffee shops within steps. The city bus station is 2 blocks away. Close to lake (sadly only for viewing not for swimming).
I have a spare room with a twin bed in a large two bedroom apartment in a three story walk up. It is right downtown (pop. 74000) and walking distance to lots of bars, galleries, restaurants etc. There are tons of lakes, bike trails, camping, fishing etc. less than half hour drive in every direction. Local art scene is good. University town. 1hr 45 min drive to Toronto. Help youself to whatever is in the fridge. I eat out almost exclusively. I have a cat, tons of books and records.
There is space on the couch and floor. I loved my global freeloaders experience when I needed a place to stay! So even though I don't have a huge nice place to offer I still want to give people the option to have a place to stay. Its a clean and mature living space. We are all very friendly and welcoming. We don't have pets any pets and live in a quiet neighborhood. If you like to cook that's awesome! You are more than welcome to use the kitchen. Clean up and bring your own food.
Big Century House with a few spare bedrooms and an attic with a small kitchen in it. Peterborough is historic town on the famous Trent River and close to the Stoney Lake cottage area. We are steps to downtown Peterborough on the Old west end "avenues" neighbourhood. My wife, 2 yr old boy and black lab live in the house and we are open to have people stay with us if you are respectful, love music and arts and have a basic understanding of FAMILY living. Cheers.
