I prefer to host from Saturdays to Thursdays because of my work but we can talk about it. I normally don't host for more than 3 nights but that can also be flexible. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment in Jacarepagua neighborhood with my wonderful boyfriend (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=A5C2S10) and my 2 cats. We have just moved in so we are still settling and there are still plenty of things missing in the house. It's not a fancy neighborhood and it's not close to the beach or nightlife. However, there are plenty of buses that will take you downtown or to the famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. But, prepare yourself: Rio is a huge city so, basically, everything is kind of (at least) 1 hour distance by bus (keep in mind you should avoid rush hours). My boyfriend and I love to chill at home and he is said to make delicious caipirinhas. We're busy most of the day, so you we can't show you around. Since we don't work early in the morning, we normally sleep late and have no problems in going out in the middle of the week. However, on Saturdays I work early and have to stand up for 7 hours straight so I never go out on Friday nights. We also normally go hiking on the weekends due to our company and you are welcome to join one of our tours. RULES (PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ IT CAREFULLY): 1) I do not allow smoking inside my house but there's no problem if you want to do it in the balcony. No drugs allowed. 2) I have 2 cats and they walk freely in the house. If you don't like cats or if you are allergic to them, my couch is definetely not suited for you. 3) I don't have a laundry machine so, you must bring a bedsheet and a towel. There's an extra sheet that Couchsurfers may use but I only wash it once a month. So, it's up to you to decide if you want to use it or not. 4) I don't leave the keys with my guests. So, you have to leave home when I leave (normally at around 1:00 PM) and can only return when I'm home (normally after 9:00 PM). I have no problem in opening the door for you late at night or early in the morning. 5) I'm not a freak for cleaning but I expect you to clean up after yourself and leave the rooms and the house as you found. Please make sure to leave the bathroom floor dry. 6) I like to cook for my guests and I don't mind to share my food but, please try to show that you are a thankful and helpful person. If you have any food restrictions (eg. If you are a vegetarian) please bring the food you like/can eat. I know it is not nice to describe this kind of rules but I think at least this way you know what you are coming for.
I live alone in a small apartment with 1 living room and 1 bedroom. I have a couch on the living room and 2 mattress to put on the floor... I live in Centro near the subway, bus stops, Lapa and the historical area. bus to Copacabana takes less than 10 minutes. basically: - i have sheets/blankets - no pets - no smoking allowed - no drugs - i have wireless connection. I must say i'm not confortable lending my notebook but it's ok to use a little bit, i can understand. - please, keep all your things together. - the guy you met in Rio, the friend you didn't see for a long time or those hookers you brought can't come in. - if you'll send me a request, show me you've read my profile, so start your request screaming "AÇAI"! - feel free to buy and cook food. I don't have much food at home actually but feel free, the kitchen is opened! Just remember to clean it after. I can give you info and tips about Rio and depending on my free time i'll love to show you around. Just contact me and we'll see =)
My spare bedroom (with a single bed) is on the first floor of my beautiful yellow house in Santa Teresa! I have an amazing view of downtown Rio and the Guanabara Bay from the terrace upstairs. The neighbourhood is very pleasent, and the famous yellow streetcar (bonde) can drop you off in my front door! I live with my sister and another friend, their room is on the second floor. I have three very nice cats and I don't smoke cigarretes. Feel free to use the kitchen. Besides the streetcar, which is more a tourist attraction than an affective urban transportation, there is a bus that comes aroud from 5 am to 10 pm. My house is very close to many bars and restaurants in Santa Teresa, and close to Lapa, which has (in my personal opinion) the best night fun in Rio: bars, beer, beautiful people, many brazillian music concerts, samba and fun are garanteed!

Feel free to use kitchen while you are here, but you will have to buy your own food. Our place would be a warmth place to stay in Rio and explore the city and its seaside and others cities around like Niterói, Búzios, São Paulo (and its beautiful seaside).

Unfortunately I have only one bedroom in my apartment, but there are 4 comfortable mattresses we can spread on the floor if you don't worry about. I've been in many countries in Europe. I know how tourists' life is. We, I and my wife, are very close to Flamengo's Park (5 minutes walking), Metro, many restaurants, shops and some important landscape. "Catete" is the name of neighbourhood (South zone = zona sul). Actually, I live beside to 2 hotels that many tourists stay at (Rio Lisboa and another I don't know the name right now) at Artur Bernardes street. Feel free to use the kitchen while you are here, but you will have to buy your own food (I help). There is no pet in apartment.
Our house is located in a calm district of Rio de Janeiro connected by metro(subway) and buses to Downtown and Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Shopping center, supermarkets, restaurants etc. are nearby. Our home can accommodate two people for a period of 4 to 5 days (accommodation of more people and longer periods can be negotiated). Its not luxurious but comfortable. Our goal is to make new friends and cultural exchange. Therefore we prefer to host guests who are interested in hosting us back. Whenever possible we will pick our guests up from and to the airport and would love to show them around so that they can fully enjoy their visit.
