Meet people prepared to show you the best of Rotterdam!
MEET - GREET - EXPLORE R'DAM * If you like to explore Rotterdam together with a local, than I can be that local. I know Rotterdam very well, I am interested in art, photography and architecture and if I have time I'll give you a tour. Lets meet for a drink, exchange information .. * SURFING MY COUCH * My boyfriend is busy studying so we haven't got so much time to host. * ** We will be travelling in the States June 20 - July 15, 2008. ** *** As I live with my boyfriend (who is non-freeloader, but he cooks for us) and we both are self-employed working from the home office I prefer to host on Friday or Saturday for 1 night. But .. I will make exceptions depending on our schedules and your request. *** **** I like my guests to be independent like me. If I have time I love to spend this together with my guests, as that is the fun part of hosting and surfing for me: exchange ideas / stories and make memories together. **** The couch! We live in a 3-floor modern house on the Kop van Zuid and we can offer you: - the couch that sleeps really well - a huge airbed - the hammock Don't mind about the sheets, blankets and towels, we have plenty for you to use. You'll be sleeping in one corner of our living room, which is on the first floor. The house has three floors and they are all connected like one big open space ~ except for the bathroom and our bedroom. The balcony, kitchen and toilet are on the ground floor. There is a washing machine we let you use if you ask and a freeload-dedicated laptop for you to go on Internet. With great weather you (we) can sit outside infront of our house overlooking the harbour or relax in the back of the house on the balcony or in the garden that we share with all our neighbours. Rest! I plan my schedule around my guests as we have a lock-out policy, but if this works for you you are very welcome. We are non-smokers (but you can on the balcony), non-heavy drinkers, non-party animals. We love music / film / art & good food/wine. I will make you Dutch coffee that can compete with a real cappuccino;) Meals we share together in my house and in between we take care of each other when snacking, drinking ... There is a place where you can park your bike safely for the night. If my schedule allows it I am more than happy to pick you up from Central Station. The Kop van Zuid! If you come by car, there is no free parking area here! If you are into modern architecture - the Kop van Zuid is famous for it. We have different restaurants, pubs and a big supermarket (open 7 days a week) right on our doorstep. The Kop van Zuid is very near to the city centre, located on the South bank of the river Maas (Willemsbrug). 10 - 20 minutes walk to the bus, tram and train and 5/10 minutes by bike to the city centre. You! If you can really cook, we have a great kitchen to cook in and if you cook, I will do the dishes;)
Small room in my medium sized duplex (maisonette) in the centre of Rotterdam. Everything is in walking distance, shops, pubs, all museums and all great architecture for which rotterdam is famous. Public transport (metro, tram, train), is a 5 minute walk: there is an intercity service to The Hague and Rotterdam twice hourly, while a quick transfer to Rotterdam will get you to Antwerp (1 hr) or Brussels (2 hr) or even Paris (3.5 hr). If you want to visit cities in both The Netherlands and in Belgium, Rotterdam is a great base to do that from. Apart from that, Rotterdam is perhaps the most "modern" city of the Netherlands.
A room with a spare bed in a 4 room appartment. Near the centre of Rotterdam. You can use all facilities that I have, like kitchen and shower. You must buy your own food, supermarkets are 50 meter from the appartment. Easy accesible by train and tram from the national airport Schiphol. I work during the day-time but we can always work something out about that. Rotterdam is a vibrating city that has a different vibe then Amsterdam. If you want to visit this city ( like most tourists in the Netherlands ) you just pick the train and in 45 minutes you are in the centre of Amsterdam.
Two people can accomodate at the same time. I can offer one bed and a mattress for the second person. But we three have to share the same room :-) It's quite big though. I have 24 hrs internet access. It takes 40-45 minutes to get to the city center by bike. Closest subway station is 15 minutes by walking. We have a busstop at 3 minutes walking distance, but the schedule is so inconvenient. I hardly ever travel by bus. If you buy your own food and your own shampoo & soap, you can use the kitchen or bathroom any time. Also, please do not forget to clean.
One bedroom apartment in a landmark building in the centre of Rotterdam, right on the famous Erasmusbridge which crosses the Maas river. Fantastic city views, balcony, with views of the city and river. Very close to Rotterdam Central station, which is a national and international transport hub - 10 minutes to Delft, 20 to the Hague, 45 - 60 to Amsterdam (you can have a big night there and get home at 4 or 5am easily), and an hour (or less) to Antwerp and Brussels, 2 hours (depending on the type of train you take) to Paris or Cologne.
Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands and is near others cities like Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague. The public transport is ok with tram, subway and trains. It's a modern multicultural city and there are lots of things to see (musea, worlds largest harbour, great nightlife etc.) And al sorts of events (International Film Festival Rotterdam) You can stay at our place near the centre and central station (15 minute walk or 10 by tram) You can sleep in a guestroom or on a mattrass in the livingroom.
Rotterdam has good public transport; lots of buses, a central train station with regular trains to other cities. It takes around 20 minutes to get to Rotterdam central by tram, but takes 15 mins to get to RTM central station by foot..(walking) .Please bring your sleeping bag or your own blankets/towels .you can stay at our can use our kitchen and dinning room, but please keep clean... I can show people around. If I have free time. I go to bed late ,I can't get up too early.

I have a bed that can fit 2 people (smaller than queen size though). When I have guests over, I will take to the floor with my trusty sleeping bag. :) I live alone in a cozy, clean studio. You have access to the kitchen and the bathroom, of course, and my food as wel if you'd like. I am located in Kralingen, right next to Erasmus University. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and stores here. The city centre is 15 minutes by bike or public transport.
Living room, with couch that seats 6-8, but pushed together easily sleeps 2. Feel free to use all facilities when here. In the historic west part of Rotterdam, walkin distance from the Euromast, and 2 minutes from the subway station that gets you everywhere in Rotterdam area and at the central station within 10 min. Quaint part of town, cute shops and restaurants, and an little harbour.
