|Saratov is a true province of Russia, it's not brilliant, not very clear as our government steals a lot, but it's cozy, small town in midland by the Volga River. Winters are cold, summers are very hot. People are friendly (with exceptions, but don't worry) and I'll be blessed to host someone who wants to discover some deep Russian nature, people and places.
I have 2 absolutely different options.
1. Cozy small room with sort of double bed in my medium sized 3 bedroom town flat situated in the city-centre of Saratov. The city is not very big (about 1m people) and you will be near everything (shops, cafes, main shopping centres). Also we have Volga river here and it's about 20 min by car to it's shores. I can land a boat and bring you to some island for enjoying the river, camping or fishing.
You can of course use kitchen, but you will have to buy your own food sometimes (it's cheap here, don't worry).
2. A spare double bed (or some sort of single/double matress) in 2 floor country house in a very beatiful place, Chardym, 50 km from town. Volga is about 15 minutes by foot from there. Very quite place where you can sleep your head off in COMPLETE silence and nature, try russian fishing, travel to some lone beaches or even do some camping on distant islands by my father's small boat, we soon will have sauna (or "banya") there also, if you want, you can also drink some vodka or other stuff with friendly neighbours and get to know russian hospitality (don't worry, the last thing is not optional :D ).
There's a Gagarin's Landing place in about an hour car travel (not a very beatiful place, but... history, eh), Kazakhstan border with the largest, except Dead Sea, salt reservoir, wide river Volga of course and we also have a great mountain forrest with almost fantastic views for picninc/hiking/biking (you can take a bike for a very small fee there).|
