I live in a smallish studio apartment. My bed and pull-out love seat are in the same room, so the surfer will be sleeping very close to me. Couch: Pull-out love seat with separate mattress. Ample room on floor for sleeping bag. Queen-sized bed. Persons: Just myself. Pets: none Smoke: non-smoker. Fun things nearby, National Mall, Smithsonian, Capitol Hill, Shakespeare Theater, Penn Quarter, Eastern Market. Public transportation: Walking distance to three Metro stations, Metro bus, DC Circulator bus, ZipCar Can I show around: Yes, on evenings and weekends. Bedtime: Usually in by 2300 on weekdays. Best time to host: Weekends are the best, but can host during the week as long as the surfer is out by 0800 as that's the time I leave for work. Also, I work out at the local gym at least three times a week, so the surfer would be out by then. (He or she could also use the gym with me on a free pass if they like.) Blankets: Yes Day limit: 5 days.
I live in a one-bedroom apartment just up the street from the Red Line Metro station. I have a mid-sized comfy futon that can sleep two, and ample floor space for one other person. I'm open to you bringing foodstuffs, alcohol, etc. as "payment" for my "services" rendered. Also, if you can cook me something native, all the better. If you can snag some alcohol from your host country, yeah! I work during the day and so can't show you around except after 1800 (6 pm). Most of my weekends are free, so we'll have to play it by ear. I have just two ground rules: 1. During the week, you must be ready to leave by 0800 (8 am) when I leave for work. I don't leave anyone in my place unless I'm there. 2. No bringing home of guests. I have blankets and pillows.
Couch in living room folds out into a bed, mattress can be removed and placed on the floor for more grounded accommodation. Occasionally one or more housemates are not at the house, so we may be able to accommodate you with an actual bed, but either way we can usually take up to two people. House is a three story row house in central Washington DC. We are blessed to be close to everything here, including just a short walk (about 7 minutes) from Adams Morgan, which is hands down the best bar scene in all of DC. We are metro accessible from two subway stops, and all kinds of busses. Happy to host, especially those of you out there who are capable cooks and would revel in sharing your culinary delights with us.
Seriously comfortable couch in a living room that can be closed off to provide privacy. We also have those large sleeping pillows. Four people live in this three story row house.Three on the second floor and one on the third floor. We are in a great neighborhood in Washington DC--close to everything--Adams Morgan, U Street and the metro is 1.5 blocks away. use of the kitchen an all common space is welcome; a bathroom on the second floor is shared with the three people wh live on the second floor of this three story row house. We're diverse and eclectic on any demographic scale you'd use, are interesting, friendly, and very serious about keeping the common areas clean. washer and dryer are also here to use.
Medium size one bedroom apartment with large, private bedroom for guests. There is a hideaway bed for me, the host,in the living room. The building is a condominiun located in the city of Washington, D.C. My neighborhood is Cleveland Park, which is approximately 2 miles from the White House and the center of the city. Cleveland Park metro stop is a 5 minute walk where you will also find shopping, restaurants, pharmacies, the DC public library, and many other attractions for those who prefer city living. The apartment in on Connectut Avenue, a large boulevard, and adjacent to Rock Creek Park, a United States National Park. Visitors can take a 2-3 hour train ride for a day trip to New York City.
we are in a less visited area of DC but are a short walk to the metro and 1 Block to Catholic university. We have an apartment and are both law students so we are not around much, but we are more than hppy to help you with where you need to go and make sure you have tea/coffee and a hot meal for breakfast. Catch us on the weekend and we can show you around a bit more. WE HAVE A DOG (a small 14 year old cocker spaniel which will follow you around). There are restrictions as to the dates we can host due to finals and our own traveling during the summers and around Christmas. We both enjoy meeting new people and have a passion for learning about new cultures. We look forward to hosting nice people.
Surprisingly comfortable sleeper sofa in the living room of my 1-bedroom apartment in Columbia Heights. The bus that stops right in front of the building runs all day and night to Dupont, the White House and Metro Center. It's *roughly* 15 mins. to U Street, 20 to Dupont, and 25 to the White House. The Columbia Heights Metro is 4-5 blocks away. The Mount Pleasant and Adams-Morgan neighborhoods are within walking distance (10 and 20 minutes, respectively). Last, but definitely not least, it's a pleasant 15-minute walk to the trails in Rock Creek Park, DC's best kept secret. (NB: I don't have a TV, but you can check email, and phone calls to anywhere in the US and Canada are free.)
The accommodation: Private guest bedroom (with bath en suite), queen-size bed, central air conditioning. On 2nd floor of 3-bedroom single-family home. Laundry and kitchen privileges, but you'll need to buy/cook your own food. The neighborhood: Palisades district. Two-block walk to supermarket, drug store, dry cleaner, liquor store, gourmet shop, restaurants, library, and bus stop. Approx. 10-minute ride to Georgetown & 20-minute ride to downtown, monuments, etc. Approx. 20-minute taxi ride from/to National Airport (DCA) or 35-minute ride to Dulles (IAD). Short walk to forested parks, Capital Crescent bike trail, towpath and boathouse along C&O Canal/Potomac River.
We have a guest bedroom with a queen sized futon couch and/or an air mattress depending on what your back prefers. We don't smoke and don't have pets. We live in the SE section of Capitol Hill, 4 blocks from the Eastern Market metro stop, and are an easy one mile walk away from the Capitol Building end of the National Mall. It is a good neighborhood with many restaurants/pubs nearby. David works weekdays, my schedule is flexible but usually weekends/nights. We're usually in bed by 10:30pm (unless I'm working nights, then I might be sleeping during the day.) Whether we can actively show you around or just provide a clean bed will depend on scheduling. We have bedding and towels.
We have one pull out ikea sectional that folds out to a queen. Plenty room for two people. Our place is 700 or so sq. feet and you would be in the living room. We have a cat that is very friendly, so if you are not down with cats, I would recommend a different accommodation. Me and my wife both work and would be out all day. We would prefer not to leave guests at the house by themselves while we are out, so I would suggest planning accordingly. We are 5 minutes from the Eastern Market metro stop with access to the blue and orange lines. 10 minute walk from the capitol/supreme court/library of congress/national mall, etc.
